A 294 key hotel in the heart of Stratford, the flagship for the new Marriot brand, Moxy Hotels. The cores and level 1 slab were traditional steel frame construction with the rest of the building formed from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) slabs which create a rigid cellular structure. The CLT section of the building was prefabricated in Italy as double bathroom pods with the walls prewired and preboarded almost totally removing the fitting out of the bedrooms from the critical path.
The external finish of the hotel was considered to be of particular importance by London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and was particularly challenging; consisting of finely detailed GRC panels to the cores and ground floor and an intricate rainscreen panel system over the CLT rooms including oriel windows to a number of the facades.
